About
BeckleyMommies
| MISSION |
To provide a safe, secure, FREE place for
mothers to find support and encouragement from other mothers and to empower them
to be better women, parents and community leaders. |
| PHILOSOPHY |
No one should have to pay a fee to make a
friend, so we offer free membership to any mother within the community who
wishes to join. Members gain camaraderie and support through an online forum
that is available 24 hours a day and events around the area where mothers can
meet face-to-face and develop real friendships that can last a lifetime.
We believe that, working together, mothers can change
the world - one family, one neighborhood, one community at a time. BeckleyMommies is
a connecting force, helping us each to make a difference in our own lives,
in our families and in the places we call home. |
| ABOUT US |
Site Administrator Erica Street was inspired to start up the first mommies network in Beckley, WV by being an active part of a similar forum in Charlotte, NC. She has developed many friendships, had several questions answered and has been able to offer advice to other moms in the Charlotte area. She is thrilled to have the opportunity for the same impact and outcome here in Beckley, WV. She believes that no mom should have to conquer the challenges of motherhood without the advice of other moms in the know. Having a mommies network at the tip of your fingers will enable moms to explore, connect, relate and reach out to other moms. No two moms are alike in the way they raise their children. However, one thing they have in common is the bond between their babies and their hearts. Erica hopes to cultivate that idea through BeckleyMommies.
We chat online in a private forum - discussing
everything from the best photographers to the worst temper tantrums and all that
lies between - and meet-up regularly at member-driven events around town. Whether
it's a late night commiseration on a crying baby (there are 4 am posts to prove
it) or a Mom's Night Out, BeckleyMommies provides what our members need, when and how they
need it.
But BeckleyMommies is more than just a community of moms. It's moms
in and for the community. Our members work full time, stay home full time, work
part time, represent many races, are pregnant for the first time, are adoptive
moms, were adopted themselves, recently moved to the area, have lived here all
our lives, have twins, are happy with one, are single moms, are searching out
schools and have watched their kids graduate. In other words, we are a reflection
of mothers in the real world. And we help out our neighbors as much as ourselves
through organized fundraisers and other charity events - specifically those focused
on providing for mothers and their children. |
